Continental Points of Interest
Amber - A independent city controlling the eastern road fork. It has rebuffed efforts to be annexed into the Kingdom of Goldhaven and it's respectable Horsemen of Amber have kept the roads and area safe. It is run by an elder council. Often in conflict with midland slaver gangs.
Antezzia - A port city that is ruled by desert elf tribes and their prince. It is far enough from Athrax to be free of most of its control. It controls the northwest rivers in the desert.
Athrax - A true power in the desert. Athrax is a mighty walled city of over a million humans. It's large army has Bazzam and many villages paying tribute to Athrax. It controls the salty Talisman Lake and much of the Red Desert. The Desert King uses great legions of slaves to expand his kingdom.
Bardarrow (not shown)- This barren volcanic island is the home of many pirates in the area. It lies some long ways west of Goldhaven in the Great Sea. A run down fortress is used as home for the pirate lords built into the side of the dormant volcano. At sea side are elaborate docks for the many vessels who arrive there and a sprawling wooden city. The sea about the island is rocky and treacherous to any ship that doesn't know the safe routes. Beyond the natural hazards, pirate ships in the area tend to attack any unknown ships that near the island and sometimes even their allies.
Battan & Dakkar - Called the "bastard cities", the "foul brothers" or the "capitals of scum" are chaotic cities of slaver gangs that fill and plague many of the midlands of the continent. The cities themselves have little to no order with criminals running rampant and only the strongest having real power there. The most powerful gangs usually call the shots there and leave the lesser groups to kill each other for their favor. All manner of scumbag nonhumans come to trade with them, orcs, trolls, giants, etc. Even Athrax nobles travel here for the slave markets, the only people the criminals know not to mess with.
Bazzam - A northern desert city that maintains its fragile independence by paying hefty tributes to Athrax. The powerful Athrax military also provides the city with protection. This city trades with elves upriver in Wickwood Forest.
Black Keep - The home of the Shadow Guild. This black castle is located on the eastern slopes of the Duskspear Mountains quite a ways to the north. While most consider it just another abandoned castle, few know the truth. Most keep away due to the rumors of the keep being haunted and be a place of horrors. Only those carrying a black scroll provided by the Guildmaster ever survive nearing its walls. Those that wander too close without a scroll or permission of the guild find a quick death. The Shadow Guild are experts of stealth and assassination. They accept assassination contracts for a high price but their extreme skill and professionalism is usually worth it. Long ago a Goldhaven Archon made arrangements with the guild to train the city's spies and assassins but are bound to keep their secrets.
BruBella - A small, lawless settlement of 19,000 people made up mostly of criminals, pirates and other lowlifes. The only "law" there is maintained by the more powerful pirate lords. Brubella (called "BB" by some frequent visitors) is not on most maps and tends to only be known by those that run in criminal circles.
Capella - Once the capital city of the mighty Continental Empire that ruled Dromundy, now it lies in ruins with most of its treasures and relics long plundered. It is rumored the home of angry wraiths and phantasms.
Darrow - A small town that fell to criminal rule with the dominant gang the Redstripe Brigands controlling a puppet mayor. The town was reclaimed by royal troops upon founding of the Kingdom of Goldhaven and installed with a mayor of the king's choosing.
Diremarch - A prison hundreds of miles east of Goldhaven. Its located in a slimy swamp full of bubbling stinking water. It is a grim place without hope. Few ever survive their sentences here. It is guarded by paid mercenaries and inhuman creatures. A living sludge lives in the area and consumes those that get too close. "Keep your head, just as dead" is the saying for those being sent there.
Duskspear Mountains - Tall peaks that cut through the northern end of the continent. Under the southern and central parts of this mountain chain is the Kingdom of Duskspear which is a dwarven nation of great skill and heroism that has long been friendly towards the humans of the coast. Under the north end the chain is ruled by the gnomes of Vulnon.
Frostmar - The southernmost Ice elf settlement. Many of their supplies and slaves come through here. Those that come there willingly don't usually ever leave. (Destroyed in the Winter War)
Hammermight - A large dwarven city under the southern Duskspear Mountains lead by their king. They maintain good relations with Goldhaven and exchange emissaries. Much of the finery and high quality arms found in the Goldhaven area comes originally from Hammermight forges.
Kanedar (not shown)- A barren island off the east coast of the continent home of Lord Blackwind and capital of the Iron Conclave.
Mordhal - The main fortified colony of the Ice elves on Dromundy. It is ruled by a royal who is a member of Ice elf emperor's imperial family.
Murkerin - A small mill town and Goldhaven's closest neighbor. Things were upset when the king tossed out the old town leadership and installed his personally chosen Lord Mayor. Rebellion against the king seems to be growing in this area.
Northroc - One of the many coastal fortress cities (like Goldhaven) built by the old empire. After the chaos following the fall of the empire, the city was sacked and its walls ruined by siege engines. Now it lays in ruins with only squatters and unusual creatures living amongst the rubble.
Northrun - A larger northern free city that makes most of its income from fishing and sea trade. It lies in the northern cold and is a good friend to the gnomes of Vulnon. Southern slavers are constantly a threat but the Knights of Northrun serve their city and North Lord very well. The city controls Winter's Bay but its ships must turn from thick field of icebergs and bitter winds coming from the north west.
New Pyra - A military garrison city named after the capital city of the Pyraxar Empire. In the future, it might be expanded to become the first imperial colony on Dromundy.
Orkin Vale - Named after the tribes of orks (or orcs as they are more commonly referred to) that live in this part of the Duskspear valley north of the Graywood forest. The orcs here have tried many times to seize the Northroc ruins for themselves but always were forced back by the violent creatures that now inhabit those ruins. The tribes here have frequently warred with the dwarves of the Kingdom of Duskspear.
Ridgeback Mountains - A mountain range full of giants, trolls and other aggressive creatures. Below the mountain lies a few kingdoms of dark dwarves that maintain always shifting alliances and rivalries. Their attempts to enslave Borrum and Silverspur have been thwarted by the protections of the Mages of the Silver Tower whose home tower lies on the east coast of the Dagger Lake. The wood elves of Eastreach Forest have also left their wood to keep the dwarves away and have maintained a friendly relationship with the humans.
Southhaven - The sister fortress city of Goldhaven on the coast a few hundred miles south of Goldhaven. It stood strong through the end of the empire like Goldhaven and thrives still. The two cities maintain trade and an alliance but direct contact is rare in quiet times. There is a greater presence of high elves in this city than Goldhaven.
White Spires - Once a city of wizards, priests and academics it was utterly destroyed as a threat in the Dragon War by a group of dragons subduing the eastlands. The hometown of Azmond Merden. His family was scattered and some killed by the attack on this city.
Beyond the continent
Ithala - The continent to the far west, across the sea, on which is located the Queendom of Underveil (Soladari homeland), Realm of Boljor (dwarven kingdom, Underveil client state) Kingdom of Kairinda (Mithron homeland), and the Pyraxar Empire (Imperial weres) among other lands.
